A visitor

So this fella paid us a visit yesterday. He seemed very comfortable on top of the fence, walked up and down a bit, looked around etc.
From my "Birds of Texas" book we have decided it's a 'Cooper's Hawk'.

How lovely :)

mmm... that tail is bothering me... Cooper's Hawks have a very long tail with dark bands, round-ended at the tip. It could be a Sharp-shinned Hawk, I just can't tell for sure.

Either way, fantastic bird. Hunting for songbirds and rodents in your backyard, cool.
